I began my research by deciding that first I needed to define what a leader is in order to compare certain leaders. One of the best definitions of leadership that I stumbled upon was this one: “A leader is a person who guides or inspires others within an organization or community to achieve a goal.” I like this quotation because a goal is a very broad term and can be left up to interpretation. Leaders are everywhere in our lives however everyone is not a leader. Many leaders develop in their roles as opposed to before them. This quote discusses the inital stages of Leadership development. “Leadership development begins with the simple realization that you want to be a leader.” When one chooses to become a leader they may begin their journey towards being an effective leader.

My name is Derek Franklin and I am the creator of this webpage. This webpage is a representation of my Senior Capstone project where I explored leadership and looked at its prevalence in everyday life. Leadership has been very important to me my whole life and my capstone was a good way of exploring more about it and finding how I can be a good leader as I am attending Business School in the fall.
