Move 2: What Qualities Make People Good Leaders?

After first exploring why people become leaders in this move I will transition towards what makes people good leaders. I began my search to find good leaders by looking at what qualities define good leaders. To do this I looked at two lists: one posted by Profiles International and one posted by Forbes magazine. Both of these share qualities that I compared and contrasted in order to discover which qualities are most important. The three qualities I focused on were Communication, Confidence, and Commitment. These three are on both lists and seem to be three of the most important. Through my second move I come to the conclusion that Communication appears at first glance to be the most important as all leadership requires some form of communication. In my next move I will see how these qualities correspond with different leaders and how they used them effectively.

This list includes some very important qualities. Honesty, Delegate, Confidence, Commitment, Positive Attitude, Creativity, Inspire, Intution. All of these are good qualities but I pulled the three best

Confidence, Commitment, and Delegate or Communication. I then compare these to the other list. The link to this list can be found at the button below.

This Profiles International List includes Honesty, Communication, Confidence, Inspiration, Creativity, Positivity, Delegation, Commitment, Humor, Intuition. This list also has Communication, Confidence, and Commitment. Although they share some such as Intuition, and Creativity those are less important than the big three C's. The Link for this list can be found below.

This list was a sort of outside source I looked at in order to get another perspective on some important qualities. This list has little to back it up but it is a survey for what traits people believe matter the most. In my later moves I discuss topics like why honesty is less important in leadership as accomplishing the goal is more important than keeping people happy.
